Men's U17 national team Takes Israel's first-ever gold

Unicorn quarterback Motty Bednarsh led the team to victory.
The team forfeited a match on Shabbat rather than play on the holy day.

The newly formed Men’s U17 team snagged a gold medal in the second-ever European youth tourney. The team was committed to observing the Sabbath and so forfeited the game on Shabbat to Serbia.

Since Israel scored so many points in their first games, the team made it into the playoffs, then won against Italy in the semifinals, moving on to the finals in a much anticipated rematch against Serbia. Israel decisively defeated Serbia 34-13 to take the gold. This was only the first year that Israel competed.

Thanks to Coaches Gideon Reiz and Dani Eastman for their leadership.
